Core belief bible verse jumped out in Proverbs 10!
I admit, when I get the opportunity to soak in the holy book...I do not often hit verses that TOTALLY speak to me in my faith walk. Proverbs 10:25 is one of those "gems" in my core beliefs of god/Jesus.
"When the storm-wind is past, the sinner is seen no longer, but the upright man is safe for ever." Or in many versions "the just, or the righteous is an everlasting foundation."
When we are hit with the trials of the tempter vs our holy spirits, how strong can we be? I had what I felt was a very profound question answered at my LIFE group tonight...."How can we, as christians...best deal with the differences in how each person of faith sees what is Brutal and Obnoxious?"
I think Proverbs 10:25 hits it dead on...along with how I belief these "storms" shape us in our faith walk...I believe coming at it with the best love we can...that is...love that is so unconditional, no one can misinterpret...at least in the long-term scope of things..."the just, or the righteous" will build an everlasting foundation in our faith in our fellowship...and in christ. Problem is...one may want to "control" how that love gets translated...and that is where things become too dangerous. It is with holding in the firm belief that short-term differences will yield long-term acceptance of forgiveness offered that the best christian will be enabled to seek out repentance...but what about those levels the ones on the receiving end are seeing what is "Brutal and Obnoxious?" I think one would agree that a punch from Mike Tyson to Buster Douglas vs a punch from Mike Tyson to "Mini-Me" from the "Austin Powers" movie fame is a pretty big difference....The question is...how can we bring "mini-me" up to speed on accepting what power that punch was meant as our unconditional love?...Because this may be utterly destructful if we cannot "control" it...leading to Proverbs 10:"Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discernment
So what are YOU discerning in others? Can you do it wisely, and at a level that can best serve those you are serving? Too hard for me in some of my "battles" of love, I must admit! But I'm on the road to recovery...step by step...day by day...trusting God along the way! :)

Proverbs 8 & 9....the "choice" of an old generation
How does one choose something that has been there before anything else? In chapter 8...Solomon explains how wisdom was there even BEFORE the beginning(verse 22)
That emparted to me the question..."Why is our acceptance to "choose wisely" more difficult than "primal" instinct, then?" My Answer: Because it is the MOST primal...even BEFORE mankind(Adam) was created by God...and thus, man ALONE CANNOT choose it WITHOUT choosing God FIRST! :) Something obviously, Adam and Eve failed to do for us...
In chapter 9...Solomon paints the picture of how that choosing of wisdom will be benificial.(verses2 through 6) Then he talks about mockers...
And John Milne's response to this?...Yes...begin to live...stop mocking...
However...
John Milne will ALWAYS wonder, though...and pray....yes...pray...show me the right path, Lord...I still believe in it's truth...I can "taste and see" it....If I can only grasp it firmly, and make it tangible...believe....believe...
I am going to wait and recap chapter 10 until after tonight's LIFE group...because that chapter initself is a BOOK...
