TAKE ME HIGHER, LORD...MOVE ME!

from Genesis 28:10-19a; Psalm 139:1-12, 23-24; Romans 8:12-25; Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43

I stumble through my sleep, tripping over that hard pillow, desperate to reach the ladder. There are others climbing up and down, drawing my attention to the One who stands ........at the summit.

What did that mean? I ask the same tired question of a thousand other dreams. But this dream must mean something. Surely the God of Heaven has something to say........ to me.

I know when you slip the Rock beneath your head. I know when you will crane a stiff neck. I choose the time between the times to send my messengers to show the way. Sleep hems you in so that you must see me speak ........ with you.

You cannot flee from the dream. Because you cannot flee from me. I am in the leg jerks and the REMs. I am the One talking........ to you.

So the question remains. Who? Who will lead you? I adopted you and directed you. Yet you would dream me away in the covers of darkness. But I am always there........ before you.

Groan. Whimper. Cry out in your sleep. I will answer you with angels. You will indeed climb out of your dark dreams,But remember it is the Lord of Light who calls you,one rung at a time,........ from slumber.

He has sown his seeds in my slumber again. As I stretch, I wonder that he has called me higher. Who amongst all these weeds will climb the trellis of God ........with me?

For surely in that day, the flames will climb high with so much fuel. So we must leave the safety of this soil and spread these tendrilled arms up the rungs, over the crossbars, and into the sunny house ........of God.
